How to play Layrpop

The goal is simple: place one moving block on top of another, without losing the overlap. The challenge is knowing exactly when to stop the motion.

Play the game →

1. Start your tower

Open the game. Tap, click or press Space to begin. A block moves back and forth above the platform. Watch it cross the tower's footprint and act when the centers line up.

2. Place each block where it overlaps

Tap, click or press Space again to place the moving block. If it sits partly outside the layer beneath it, the protruding section breaks away. Only the overlapping section remains for the next layer. When the overlap is too small, the run ends.

3. Expect the direction to change

Successive layers alternate between two horizontal axes. You must judge left-to-right movement on one layer, then front-to-back movement on the next. Pay attention to the tower's edges rather than relying on a single timing rhythm.

4. Aim for a Perfect

Center the next block accurately enough and you get a Perfect placement instead of a cut. Perfects in a row build a combo.

Reach 3 consecutive Perfects to regrow your block

Starting on the 3rd consecutive Perfect, each further Perfect can restore 0.25 game units along the block's current movement axis (X or Y), up to the original size of 3.6 units. The other axis does not grow on that placement. Any non-Perfect resets the streak.

After 2 consecutive Perfects, the block does not grow yet. Perfect #3 starts the recovery, and Perfect #4 can grow it again if that axis has room.

5. Go again and improve your best

As the tower rises the blocks move faster and the timing window for Perfect placements gets tighter. After a miss, review the result, then restart to try again. Your best score is kept locally in your browser.

First-run checklist

  1. Watch the moving block's center, not its trailing edge.
  2. Try to line up both directions before chasing combos.
  3. Once you can reliably place blocks, aim for 3 consecutive Perfects to start recovering width.
  4. When the tower narrows, slow down your decision-making rather than tapping randomly.

Frequently asked questions

Is Layrpop a puzzle or an arcade game?

It plays like an arcade timing challenge: one action places a block, but every placement changes the size of the next target.

Does one bad placement end the game?

Not necessarily. A partial overlap lets you continue with a smaller tower. A complete miss or too little overlap ends the run.

How do I rebuild a narrow tower?

Perfect streaks can recover some width. Read our timing and recovery tips for a fuller explanation.
